We need more public and community housing in Victoria – and with the state election on November 24, now is the perfect opportunity to make that happen.

With the election just around the corner, candidates in every seat across the state are listening more carefully than ever to their local communities, because they’ll need your vote!

That means, if enough of us send our local candidates emails, we can pressure them into making a commitment to make sure Victoria gets the 3,000 extra public and community housing properties we need every year for the next 10 years.

Can you take a moment now, to send your local candidates an email, using the tool on the right?

Why is public and community housing so important?

Public and community housing is absolutely vital.

These homes enable key workers like nurses and police officers to live close to where they work, so they don’t have to endure long commutes after their shift. They provide safe, secure shelter for those who would otherwise end up couch-surfing, living in their car or even on the street. They are home to couples, families, people on the pension, job-seekers, childcare workers – to so many people.

But there are not enough public and community housing properties in Victoria. 25,000 people in our state alone are homeless on any given night. 82,000 people are on the waiting list for public or community housing.
