Maree Cook is a well-dressed, articulate disability support worker, living in a stable home and dedicated to social justice.

But just three years ago, at the age of 45, she was unemployed and at her lowest ebb.

Worst of all, she was homeless, a situation she found harder than anything she had ever experienced, in a life already filled with adversity.
