Listen:Ending homelessness: Can Melbourne learn from Finland?

Finland has replaced homeless shelters with permanent homes paired with intensive support.

Juha Kaakinen, CEO of Y-Foundation, the agency which convinced the Finnish Government to make the change, told ABC Radio Melbourne’s Virginia Trioli it had made rough sleeping invisible in the Finnish capital Helsinki.

Mr Kaakinen, who is in Melbourne for the National Homelessness Conference, says the approach could make a difference to Melbourne’s growing homelessness problem.
