Sydney property boom blows poor towards public housing

Homelessness NSW CEO Katherine McKernan says we need to grow the social housing system, and we also need “reforms to the tax system, looking at capital gains and negative gearing, we need to look at ending homelessness by providing supportive housing, not just crisis accommodation and increasing Commonwealth rent assistance so people can afford to use the private rental market. We also need to look at renters’ rights such as long-term rentals.”
