On any night in Australia, 116,000 people are homeless.
It’s not just people sleeping rough on the streets.
All over Australia every single day there are people sleeping in their cars, on friend’s sofas or finding shelter with family because they have nowhere else to go.
It’s not ok. It’s a sign that our whole housing system is broken.
But we can fix it!
That’s why we’re calling on governments to put together a national action plan to end homelessness that:
- Addresses the causes of homelessness, including the lack of affordable housing, poverty and family violence.
- Rapidly rehouses people who are homeless and helps them stay there; and
- Addresses the over-representation of Aboriginal people in our homeless system.
With real effort we can halve homelessness in five years and end it in 10.
Homelessness can happen to any of us.
Will you sign the petition and ask all political parties to support a national plan to end homelessness by 2030?
Let’s make sure everybody in Australia has a home.
